The next Foundation-sponsored
community education program will
be “What’s Next? Life After a Cancer
Diagnosis,” addressing common medical
and psychosocial needs of individuals liv-
ing with cancer and of their loved ones.
CORALVILLE’S NEWEST PHYSICIANS
are a
team both at home and at work. They are
Michael Gomendoza, MD, and Carol Ann
Tan, MD, both internal medicine physi-
cians. They opened the practice Mercy
Internal Medicine in Coral West Health
Center in April 2012.
As internists, Dr. Gomendoza and Dr.
Tan specialize in the care of adults ages
18 and older and in the care of those with
chronic diseases.
Dr. Gomendoza received his medi-
cal education at Far Eastern University
Medical Foundation in Manila,
Philippines, and completed an inter-
nal medicine residency at Coney Island
Hospital, Brooklyn, N.Y. Dr. Gomendoza
practiced medicine in Olney, Ill., from
1998 to 2012 and also served as a clini-
cal instructor for the Southern Illinois
University Physician Assistant Program.

He is board-certified in internal medicine
and pulmonary medicine.
Dr. Tan received her medical educa-
tion at Far Eastern University Medical
Foundation in Manila, Philippines, and
completed an internal medicine residency
at Coney Island Hospital, Brooklyn. Dr.
Tan practiced medicine in Olney from
2003 to 2012 and is board-certified in
internal medicine and hematology.
The couple and their family have
relocated to the Iowa City area from
Olney.

The free program will be held on
Saturday, Aug. 18, from 9 to 11 a.m. in
the McAuley rooms, Mercy Medical
Plaza. The program is open to the public,
and a continental breakfast will be
